Despite the dominance of bleak economic forecasts in the general media, finance remains one of the most dynamic and innovative industries there is; products quickly evolve, lenders come and go and what may have been common practice yesterday may have transformed into something completely different today.
Those businesses who have enjoyed long term relationships with their lenders may be out of touch with the new reality, and even though their relationships appear cordial and friendly, make no mistake the banking sector is under the cosh; and if your lender no longer has the appetite for your business you will ultimately be denied the support you require.

As standard practice I maintain relationships with a range of lenders both new and traditional and can quickly filter through the gloss and hype to identify those who are genuine and active in any given sector. Not only does this save you time and effort but it can also have a significant impact on your bottom line. Terms for commercial finance are not set in stone and big part of my role is to present the proposition in its best light and negotiate the deal terms.
"Time is money" has as much resonance now as it ever did, and businesses need support, not just supportive dialogue from their traditional funders: who often know at the outset that they cannot support your proposition but nonetheless take weeks [sometimes months] giving the impression they are trying to persuade 'credit' to accept your proposal before they finally decline you.
Over many years businesses have developed dependencies on singular funding sources in the innocent belief that their loyalty will somehow gain them prefferential treatment if things get difficult. The number of business owners who have had to close shop in the last few years or have been dragged through bankruptcy bears testemant to the fact the financial world is changing fast and if you 'snooze' you often lose.
